Brenda WileyMaking Progress
We started with allowances, the spending diaries, spending plans, credit cards, checking accounts, saving accounts, and stock exchange. We will continue this school year with learning how to earn money.

Personalizing the Lessons
I used the Practical Money Skills for Life teacher's guides along with a credit card that was designed with our school's logo of an eagle.

Learning Never Ends
The students show up every Wednesday after school for Math Club. We begin at 2:30 and end at 4:00. I have 30 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The group has obtained a practical use for money and they understand the value and use of money. They have developed real life budgets for themselves and they share them with each other. I have enjoyed this after school activity and I plan to begin at the beginning of the next school year so that we can have activities all year. This experience has really helped with critical thinking skills and prepared them for life and high stakes testing.
