Scene 2
Characters: Alex & Randy

Alex/(he's at the computer)
Oh, look at this one, little brother! It's got a sound system
with four speakers in back and two in front. They pulled out the
back seat to....

Randy
That's not a car, it's a CD system with wheels.
It will probably break windows when you drive by.
In fact, why don't you just park it, and break windows.

Alex
C'mon, I need a good car. I've got responsibilities.
I have to get to work. I have to get to school.
I have to pick up things for Mom. I have to pick up some...

Randy
You have to pick up girls!
How are you going to pay for a car?
You don't have enough money saved ...
(Direct to camera:)
He doesn't have any money saved actually, because he spends everything he makes and then some.

Alex
I am a man with a plan. I've got a job. I've got a savings account.
The car dealer said he'd fix me up with a loan.

Randy
Mando, would YOU buy a car from someone who'd give YOU a loan?
Why don't you go to the bank?

Alex
I went over to the bank. I came up with information. It didn't
sound right to me.

Randy
What kinda' information?

Alex
Well, I found out that the bank can take your paycheck. You
never see it. They wanna use it to pay your car loan.
Can they do that?

Randy
Sure. It's called Direct Deposit, Mando.

Alex
Right. I knew that.

Randy
But you have to sign up for it.
They don't just take your money.
People do it sometimes, when they want a
loan from the bank, but they don't have very good credit.

But, Mando, what bank is going to give you money?

Alex
Not me...me and MOM.
Mom said she'd co-sign on a loan for me, if I check out all the details.

Randy
What details?

Alex (he's up on his feet pacing around like a man with REAL Ideas)
I'm not sure but probably stuff like:

(Alex and Randy go back and forth with Randy asking
the obvious things that Alex should be thinking about, but of course hasn't even thought about. Alex just repeats
Randy's questions, as though of course he's going to consider these things.)

Interest Rate?
Interest rate.

Down Payment?
Down payment.

Monthly Payment?
Yeah, ..monthly payment.

Randy
Guess you might want to check out the site I was using
to help me budget for my new wheels?

Alex (returns his attention to the computer)
I could check out that budget site you had up here the other day.
I bet it has a plan I can use.
You know mom will like a plan.
She'll be really impressed with all the thought I put in to it.

Randy
She'll be really impressed when you move out of here, Mando

FADE down during Randy's last shot at Mando.
